What Does Barry Weiss Do For A Living

Ever wondered what Barry Weiss does for a living? No, he's not a secret agent or a professional astronaut. Barry's claim to fame is something way more fascinating - he's a picker! But not just any picker, he's the original picker, the one who started it all on the hit TV show, Storage Wars.

So, what's a picker?

A picker, my friend, is a treasure hunter of sorts. They scour storage units, bought at auctions, in search of hidden gems and valuable items. It's like a real-life Antiques Roadshow meets Indiana Jones!

Barry's not your average picker

Barry, with his signature white hair and laid-back attitude, is anything but ordinary. He's a former props manager turned reality TV star, who brings a unique charm and humor to the world of picking. He's the guy who'll bid on a unit filled with what looks like junk, only to pull out a rare, valuable item that'll make your eyes pop out!

But Barry's not just about the money. He's a storyteller at heart, and each item he finds sparks a tale. He's like a human Wikipedia, sharing fascinating facts about everything from vintage cars to antique toys. It's not just about the find; it's about the journey and the story behind each item.

Barry's quirky side

Barry's not your typical TV personality. He's got a quirky side that makes him endearing. He's a self-proclaimed rock 'n' roll fanatic, often seen wearing band t-shirts. He's also a bit of a prankster, known for his practical jokes on set. Remember the time he hid a fake spider in Dave Hester's locker? Classic Barry!

And let's not forget his love for his pet parrot, Captain Jack. Barry often brings him along to storage units, with Captain Jack perched on his shoulder, adding a touch of pirate charm to their treasure hunts.

Barry's impact on the picking world

Before Barry, picking was a niche profession. But after Storage Wars aired, it became a phenomenon. People started realizing the potential in old, forgotten items. Barry's passion and charisma sparked a global interest in the art of picking.

Today, there are countless picking shows, and even apps that allow you to bid on storage units from your phone. But none of them would exist without the original picker, Barry Weiss.

What does Barry do now?

After leaving Storage Wars, Barry didn't retire his picker hat. He's still out there, hunting for treasures and sharing his stories. He's got his own show now, A & E's Barry'd Treasure, where he travels the country, finding and restoring unique items.

So, the next time you're wondering what Barry Weiss does for a living, remember, he's not just a picker. He's a storyteller, a treasure hunter, and a TV personality who's brought a whole new world of entertainment to our screens.
