Meet Joe LaCava, Tiger's Right-Hand Man

Joe LaCava has been Tiger's caddie since 2011, and he's not just any caddie. He's a seasoned pro who's carried the bags for some of the game's biggest names, including Fred Couples and Dustin Johnson. So, what's it like being Tiger's caddie? Well, it's a mix of being a personal assistant, a sports psychologist, and a club selector all rolled into one.

LaCava's job is to read the greens, suggest clubs, and keep Tiger's head in the game. It's a high-pressure job, but someone's gotta do it. And for LaCava, it's a dream come true. But let's talk money. How much does a caddie for one of the world's greatest golfers make?

How Much Does a Tour Caddie Make?

First things first, let's clear the air. Caddies don't make a fixed salary. They earn a percentage of their player's winnings. The standard rate on the PGA Tour is 10%. But for a caddie like LaCava, who's carrying the bag for one of the sport's biggest stars, it's a bit more complicated.

Tiger Woods is one of the highest-earning athletes of all time, with career earnings of over $120 million. So, you do the math. LaCava's cut of Tiger's winnings can vary greatly from week to week, but it's safe to say he's making a pretty penny.

Bonus Time

But wait, there's more! Caddies also get a bonus if their player wins a tournament. The standard bonus is around $20,000 to $30,000, but again, for a caddie like LaCava, it's likely more. And let's not forget about the perks. Caddies get to travel the world, stay in luxurious hotels, and eat like kings. Not a bad gig, right?

LaCava's Biggest Wins with Tiger

Since joining forces with Tiger, LaCava has been on the bag for some of Woods' most memorable victories. He was there when Tiger won his 80th PGA Tour title at the Tour Championship in 2018, ending a five-year drought without a win. He was also there when Tiger won his 15th major championship at the Masters in 2019, one of the greatest comebacks in sports history.

LaCava's influence on Tiger's success is undeniable. He's more than just a caddie; he's a confidant, a friend, and a crucial part of Tiger's team. And for that, he's handsomely rewarded.
