Elway's Legacy: From the Field to the Front Office
First things first, John Elway didn't just play for the Broncos, he defined them. Two Super Bowl wins, a Hall of Fame induction, and a statue outside Empower Field at Mile High - the man's a legend.
After hanging up his cleats in 1999, Elway didn't stray far from the field. He joined the front office, first as an executive vice president, then as the general manager in 2011. Talk about a power move.

Here's where it gets a bit tricky. Elway doesn't own the Broncos, but he's certainly got a significant stake in the team. In 2010, the team's majority owner, Pat Bowlen, made Elway a limited partner in the team's ownership group.
Think of it like a fancy dinner party. Bowlen's the host, Elway's the guest who's been given a key to the liquor cabinet. He might not own the house, but he's got a big say in what's happening under its roof.
