How Old Is Hiro Darling In The Franxx

So, I was watching Darling in the Franxx the other day, you know, just chilling, munching on some popcorn. And there's this scene where Hiro's all like, "I'm just a kid, I can't do this!" And I'm sitting there, thinking, "Well, how old is this kid anyway?" I mean, it's not like they have a big '15' or '17' tattooed on his forehead, right?

Now, I know what you're thinking, "Dude, it's just a show, who cares?" But hear me out, folks. Age is a big deal in Darling in the Franxx. I mean, they're fighting giant monsters, piloting mechs, and dealing with some heavy stuff. It's not like they're playing video games in their basements. So, let's dive in and figure out our boy Hiro's age.

Hiro's Age: A Mystery Wrapped in an Enigma

Alright, so the show doesn't give us a straight answer. I mean, they could've just said, "Hey, Hiro's 16," and moved on. But no, they had to make it all mysterious, didn't they?

First off, let's talk about the world they live in. It's all post-apocalyptic and stuff. The adults are all old and wise, and the kids are the ones doing all the heavy lifting. So, it's safe to say that the kids in this world are treated more like adults than kids in our world.

Now, let's look at Hiro. He's the main guy, the protagonist. He's got that whole "ordinary boy with extraordinary potential" thing going on. He's strong, he's smart, he's got leadership written all over him. But he's also got that "I'm just a kid, I can't do this" thing going on. So, he's got to be young enough to have that kid mentality, but old enough to be capable of all that piloting and leading stuff.

Clues from the Show

So, what can we gather from the show? Well, Hiro's younger than some of the other pilots. Like, Zero Two, she's like, what, 18 or something? And she's got that whole "I'm a grown-up, I can do whatever I want" thing going on. Hiro's not like that. He's more like, "I'm just a kid, I can't do this." So, he's probably younger than her.

Then there's the whole "Hiro was a failure" thing. He was a failure at piloting, and then he became the main guy. That's a big arc, right? It's not like they'd give that arc to a 12-year-old. I mean, sure, they might, but it'd be weird. So, Hiro's probably at least 14 or 15 when the show starts.

Also, there's that whole "Hiro's got a past" thing. He's got memories of a time before he was a pilot. That's not something you'd give to a 10-year-old. So, Hiro's probably at least 16 or 17 by the end of the show. I mean, he's got to be old enough to have those memories and experiences, right?

So, What's the Verdict?

Alright, so after all that, what's the answer? Well, I'd say Hiro's probably around 15 or 16 when the show starts. He's young enough to have that "I'm just a kid" mentality, but old enough to be capable of all that piloting and leading stuff. And by the end of the show, he's probably around 17 or 18.

But remember, folks, this is all just speculation. The show doesn't give us a straight answer, and that's part of what makes it so interesting. It's like they're saying, "Hey, you figure it out. It's your show now." And isn't that just the Darling in the Franxx way?
