How Old Was Mulan In The Second Movie

So, How Old Was Mulan in the Sequel, Anyway?

You know, I was sitting here the other day, watching my daughter's favorite movie, Mulan, for the millionth time. And it got me thinking, "Hey, how old was Mulan in that sequel, Mulan II?" I mean, I've seen it a bunch of times too, but I could never quite put my finger on it. So, I decided to do a little digging. You with me?

First Things First: Mulan's Age in the Original

Before we dive into the sequel, let's quickly recap Mulan's age in the first movie. She's 16, right? At least, that's what Disney tells us. But here's the thing, folks, Disney's not always the most reliable source when it comes to ages. Remember how old Ariel was in The Little Mermaid? Exactly.

Anyway, back to Mulan. In the original, she's a teenager, eager to prove herself and save her father's honor. She's young, but she's got a spirit that's older than her years. Now, onto the sequel.

Mulan II: The Age Mystery

Now, Mulan II picks up a few years after the first movie. Mulan's back, she's still a badass, but how much time has passed? Well, that's where things get a little fuzzy. See, Disney doesn't give us a straight answer here. No "I'm 17 now" or "It's been three years" moments. Nada.

So, I did what any curious cat would do. I started digging through interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and even the script. And you know what I found? Crickets. I mean, I found out some interesting stuff about the making of the movie, but nothing about Mulan's age.

But then, I stumbled upon something interesting. In one scene, Mulan's father, Fa Zhou, mentions that Mulan has been gone "for many years." Now, we know from the first movie that Mulan was gone for about a year. So, if we add that to the "many years" mentioned in the sequel, we're looking at around three to five years.

So, How Old Was She?

Alright, let's do some math. If Mulan was 16 in the first movie and she's been gone for three to five years, then she's somewhere between 19 and 21 in the sequel. But remember, folks, this is all just an educated guess. Disney never actually tells us.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "But what about Mushu? He's a dragon, he's gotta know something!" Well, I wish I had an answer for you. But Mushu's just as tight-lipped about Mulan's age as the rest of them.

Final Thoughts

So there you have it, folks. Mulan was probably somewhere between 19 and 21 in the sequel. But who knows? Maybe Disney will finally give us a straight answer someday. Until then, we can only speculate and enjoy the adventure.

And hey, if you've got any theories or found any clues I missed, drop them in the comments. I'm always up for a good Mulan discussion. Until next time, folks!
