Let's rewind a bit.

Coach Rac, whose real name is Derek Sharrer, isn't your average baseball coach. He's a guy who's turned the traditional baseball experience on its head, creating a show that's part baseball, part circus, and all entertainment. But how did he get here? Let's dive in.

Growing up in the 90s.

Coach Rac was born in the early 90s, which makes him a millennial through and through. He grew up in a world where the internet was just starting to boom, and pop culture was filled with bright colors and even brighter ideas. It's no surprise that his childhood has had a significant influence on the Savannah Bananas' unique style.

Think about it - Coach Rac was a kid when the Spice Girls were topping the charts, and the Power Rangers were saving the world. He was there for the birth of the internet, the rise of video games, and the start of reality TV. All of these things have left their mark on the Bananas' brand, creating a team that's as much about spectacle as it is about sport.

From college to the minor leagues.

After high school, Coach Rac headed to college, where he played baseball and studied business. It was here that he started to develop his unique approach to the game, creating a team culture that was all about fun, energy, and a little bit of chaos.

After college, he made his way to the minor leagues, where he spent several years coaching and managing teams. It was during this time that he started to gain a reputation for his unconventional approach to the game. But it wasn't until he arrived in Savannah that his ideas really started to take off.

The birth of the Savannah Bananas.

In 2016, Coach Rac took over the Savannah Bananas, a minor league baseball team that was struggling to find an audience. But instead of trying to fit in with the traditional baseball mold, he decided to do something completely different.
