So, How Old is Jacob in 'New Moon'? Let's Dive In!
You know, I was walking my dog the other day, and I bumped into this kid, couldn't have been more than 12. He was wearing a 'Team Edward' t-shirt, and I thought to myself, "Kid, you're a bit young for this vampire drama, aren't you?" But then it hit me, I was his age when 'Twilight' first came out. Time flies, huh? So, let's talk about Jacob, shall we?
Jacob's Age: A Bit of a Mystery
Now, here's the thing, Twilight fans. Jacob's age is a bit of a mystery, even in the books. Stephenie Meyer never gives us a straight answer. But we can make some educated guesses, can't we?
In 'New Moon', Jacob is introduced as a 16-year-old. But here's where it gets tricky. In the previous book, 'Twilight', the Cullens say that Jacob is too young for Bella. They mention he's 'just a kid'. Now, Bella's 17, so if Jacob's too young for her, he must be, what, 15? 16?

But then, in 'New Moon', he's suddenly 16. So, did he have a birthday between books? Or did Meyer just decide to make him older for the sake of the story? Who knows? Not us mere mortals, that's for sure.

Jacob's Aging: A Bit of a Plot Device
You might be thinking, "But what about the werewolf aging thing?" Well, yes, Jacob does age slower than humans because of his werewolf genes. But Meyer never specifies how much slower. It's more of a plot device than a hard and fast rule.
I mean, think about it. If Jacob aged too slowly, he'd never grow up, and that would be weird, right? Plus, it would make the whole 'imprinting' thing with Renesmee even weirder. So, Meyer probably just decided to make him age at a human-ish rate for the sake of the story.
