How Old Was Denzel Washington In Glory

Ever Wondered: Denzel Washington in 'Glory'

Alright, let's dive into the time machine and set the dial for 1989. You might be thinking, "Wait, wasn't that like, forever ago?" Well, yeah, but stick with me, 'cause we're about to find out something pretty cool about Denzel Washington and his iconic role in 'Glory'.

Now, you might be asking, "How old was Denzel in this movie?" Well, let's break it down. 'Glory' was released in 1989, which means it was filmed sometime before that. Denzel was born on December 28, 1954, so let's do some math here. In 1989, Denzel would have been...

34 years old. Yep, you heard it right. Denzel was 34 when he played the powerful role of Pvt. Trip in 'Glory'. But here's where it gets interesting. Denzel was actually a bit older than some of his fellow actors who played younger soldiers. Matthew Broderick, who played the young lieutenant, was only 27 at the time. Talk about range, right?

So, why is this so cool? Well, think about it. Denzel was playing a soldier in his mid-20s, but he was actually in his mid-30s. That's like Leonardo DiCaprio playing a teenager in his 40s. Okay, maybe not that extreme, but you get the idea. It just goes to show that Denzel has always been a versatile actor, capable of bringing depth and authenticity to any role he takes on.

But here's where it gets even more interesting. If we fast forward to today, Denzel is now in his late 60s. That means, if 'Glory' was made today, Denzel would be playing a character that's closer to his actual age. Isn't that a wild thought? It's like he's come full circle, from playing younger characters to now playing characters his own age, or even older.
