In recognition that workplace safety is more than just rules and regulations, Compass Group has also worked hard to instil a positive safety culture – which is the values, attitudes and behaviours towards safety shared by people in a workplace. Every individual at Compass Group takes personal accountability for safety practices within their own area of responsibility and safety is the first thought before undertaking any task.

Safety is critically important at Compass Group. We place it first in everything we do. Our Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies are unequalled in the catering and support services industry and we take the utmost care to reduce the risk of incidents and injuries in the working environment, and to make sure that we maintain the highest standards of food hygiene and safety.

We do and will continue to heavily invest in our HSE infrastructure which includes an Incident Management Centre (IMC) that operates 24/7 – 365 days a year and is where our people can report incidents and near misses. With swift escalation processes in place, if there is a serious incident, our CEO knows about it within 15 minutes of it being reported.

We also have a dedicated Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) team in place, which consists of a qualified doctor and four trained nurses. The OHS team are actively involved in monitoring and ensuring the wellbeing of our staff – ensuring they are fit and healthy to carry out their assigned duties.
